Eco-Friendly, Socially Responsible, Climate-Conscious Gardens

Chances are you have never thought of your garden as part of a growing effort to restore health to our planet. Neither did I, some dozen years ago. Years later when I learned what those intensive efforts of maintaining lawns and decorating with exotic flowers and shrubs had done, I set out to create a more environmentally friendly, socially responsible, climate-conscious garden. A garden where conscious design has been melded with a respect and understanding of nature’s principles in which all the pieces work together to store carbon, yield food, flowers, medicinal and edible herbs, while providing diverse habitat for helpful insects, birds, and other wildlife. A garden that does not rely on liberal doses of water, chemical fertilizers, or pesticides but where nature does most of the work. Soon, five to six years from now, it will be imperative for everyone to change how they landscape and garden as the overriding reality of lack of resources and climate chaos becomes more apparent.

I started It Takes a Garden because I know that great gardens and healthy values can go hand in hand. And, I’ve happily and passionately set out to prove it.
